Especially when my intended use is only for trips. This is a very nice box, sturdy, nice finish,roomy. The mounting bracket is a nice heavy piece of steel. I mounted mine with a piece of sheet rubber between it and the rack of my BMW to prevent scratches. Now this was not perfect as it came. I had to take a razor blade and slightly shorten the rubber stops on the rack so that the hold down latch would catch without excessive force. I also had to trim a little plastic in the area of the lock because it was interfering with the swing of the lock when the latch handle was pushed fully down. I think this is what some of the other reviews were referring to when they said the lock was tricky or difficult to operate. Didn’t take long or much effort, just look for the problems and fix them. Now you can practically throw the box at the bike and have it latch on. Lock works just like you think it should. I haven’t wired the lights up yet because I’m still trying to figure out how CAN BUS lights work. I just may go for the 9v battery like other owners have done. I mainly purchased it to throw my gear in when I arrive at places. It fits my xl full-face helmet, gloves, and almost fits my jacket all at once. If I had a smaller jacket, it might fit everything. There's no way it will fit 2 full-face helmets, though, unless they're very small. It looks a little large for the bike, but nobody I know has commented on it. Installation was simple. It came with 4 bolts you feed down through your current mounting rack, as well as some horizontal brackets if you don't have a solid mounting plate. I'd recommend buying a few extra washers so there are washers on the top side of the bolts, not just the bottom as the instructions direct. Box sits on top of rack and "clicks" into place. Lock seemed fairly sturdy, it didn't want to come off easily. Ruggedness-wise, it's not amazing. I'm mostly concerned with the integrity of the singular weld which is all holds the box onto the frame. It looks sketchy, and while it hasn't failed and doesn't seem like many people have issues with failures, it makes me a little nervous. The plastic is not of amazing quality, but it's sufficient. If somebody wants to steal your box, however, it's not going to hold up to much abuse. The lock is another fault. The box has an odd latching system which holds it closed. A spring-latch, or even forgoing the lock and just using a regular padlock to hold the thing closed would have been preferable. It's just difficult enough to get everything closed to get on my nerves. You also have to tap the mechanism with your finger in order to get the key into the "lock" position, and I feel like if I tried to force it I'd break either the lock or the key. The LEDs are a nice touch, as the box is pretty big and might potentially obscure some people from seeing your taillights. It's fairly simple to wire it up to your brake-lights, you can use them as running lights or brake lights, but I feel that the LEDs are bright enough to be suitable for brake lights. They do not seem to have any brighten/dimming functions, so if you want running+brake lights you're going to have to get creative. Wiring them up was easy, they pre-drilled a tiny hole in the bottom, from which I ran along the mounting rack into the bike, and tapped into the brake light wiring. They're LEDs, so they barely draw any power and shouldn't mess with your normal brake lights. My future project for this box will be to find a way to also enable some kind of turn-signal functionality. It looks good and seems to be of good quality. My medium helmet doesn't fit, but I'm ok with that because I didn't buy it for that reason. The mounting base fastened easily to the Pyramid luggage rack. I wired to the brake lights with a disconnect so I can remove the case easily. So far so good.
