These are locking extensions. These are handy when you are changing spark plugs. You will send the socket down the spark plug tube, and many times it will stay down there and not come back up. With these locking extensions, the spark plug socket will always come back up. They lock in place very well. Really do what they are supposed to do. To remove, just pull the black part down and the extension releases the socket.
