Review: Great even after a sanding off old coating - We previously used a water based coating recommended by a HomeDepot "expert" and our brand new redwood deck which turned out orange, and the coating started flaking off after few months which was not expected from a stain type coating. It was a mess and looked like the deck was 15 years old instead of just a few months old. After sanding the deck, railing, and benches, and then taping off the house with sheets of thin plastic, the application was fairly easy using a deck pump sprayer (messy too since we have deck benches). There were no streaks or overlap lines as it was drying which was great. Just as promised. Gone was the ugly orange and the redwood deck looked more like redwood again (just make sure the old coating is removed as much as possible as the coating doesn't absorb well to where the old coating was). The drying time for the few flat spots near our builtin benches where the coating pooled up took about 4 days to completely dry but only after tiring of the wait and wiping them with paper towels to soak up the excess. The rest of the deck was ready to walk on the next evening and ready to fully to use (around the pools or excess coating) within a couple of days of very hot days (85+). The color looks great even though I'd prefer a more natural color, but I've ended up liking it a lot and proud of the outcome. I also used the redwood color on a wood fence that attaches to a vinyl fence on the side of our property and it made it look new despite never having a real coating in the past 10 years. I got a lot on the vinyl fence as I sprayed but paint thinner took the overspray right off. The only warning is not exactly a product related flaw but a result of use: if you are coating a deck attached to an area with stucco on the house, taping it off will not work as planned. The coating absorbs into the stucco and will stain it in various circular patterns near the point of it coming into contact with the stucco as it drips over into the tiny crack between the edge deck plank and the stucco.
Review: Oil is the best. - I've been using the Ready Seal for about ten years and I personally love it, goes on really well. Lasts about three years. It absorbs into the wood as it should.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great look and easy to apply
*by A***G on July 24, 2022*

A great product for most wood used outside. Did a small 8x16 deck railing and 6x6 support posts. Still looks great years later and beads water off. Be prepared to apply at least 2 coats, maybe 3 depending on the dryness of the wood. Used on PT after about a month of sitting in the sun to dry out a bit. Easy to apply, have use it in a airless sprayer, roller, brush. Airless sprayer does have an increase loss in product, but for doing siding or fencing you will need to order extra product but applies quickly. I did a small cabin outdoor siding in 1”x10”x16’ pine boards and did it with a roller to ensure the best penetration into the wood that dried for about a year. Came out phenomenal and the redwood color just pops with pine boards. Did a wooden swing that sits in the sun all year long. Had to reapply after two years, but it takes a beating from the sun. Best stain I have used for outside work, nothing beats oil based product for outdoor usage. Water based is just crap and does not work outside. Enjoy your projects.
