These darn carafes are so thin (just like the original that came with the grinder) that they break even with the slightest tap against a hard surface such as your sink. I found that you can use the French Le Parfait brand 5 liter glass mason jar bases as a great alternative. The model that will fit is stamped 050 on the bottom. They fit under the unit perfectly and they do not break easily. You will need to remove the stainless steel clamp and top and your set to go.
