They are boxer shorts not briefs. Briefs are the tight ones! These aren't bad but they're just too dear. Patagonia used to make a boxer short called the Sender, but sadly no more. They were the best. These days the best you can get if you like boxer shorts is the Royal Robins boxer shorts with the dry loop waist band (there's no seam).
