You can get a good back lift and rotate over the top efficiently (if you are so inclined to focus on your pedal stroke that much). They were good for what they are designed for. That said, I had to get these things off. I found I wasn't using them, and they just hung there under my pedals scraping the ground, because like I said before I think I don't want to ride clipless.
