There might be a time when the bread has a slight difference in moisture, and therefore a slight different in the color. Normal white bread, frozen waffles (i.e. eggos), english muffins and bagels (frozen or fresh) ?** A: It struggles with whole wheat bread. I have to toast it once on highest setting, turn toast around and toast again on lowest setting and bagel to get the other side. And this is not one either, but there are several features of this toaster that mimic perfection. One, it is gorgeous! Two, it is very simple to operate. Three, it makes better toasts than any previous toasters that I have owned. Shortcomings. The slots are wide enough but not long enough for many standard bread sizes. For instance, Pepperidge Farm rye bread is an inch or two too long to go down in the toaster. Most sour dough type breads will not go down fully in the toaster, but there is an easy remedy--flip it if you want to have a good toast half way though the cycle. It does toast bagels nearly perfectly on the bagel cycle. Yeah! It does a great toasting job on Kellogg's Eggo waffles. Set on +5 setting and it comes out nice and golden brown on both sides. Regular toast is often perfect on one side but not the other. Oh well, it is weel to know we can make smart phones but not smart toasters. Finally, the auto down and up and signal when toast is ready is very nice.
