**Q: Whats the difference between arris tm1602 and arris tm822**
A: The Arris 1602 is a 16x4 channel modem and can be expanded to 24x8 the 822is an 8x4 having more channels allows for better connectivity and faster speed capabilities the 822is rated at a max speed of 211 although theoretically about 122Mbps the Arris 1602 is rated at 360Mbps hope this helps only have two left :)

**Q: Does it come with a battery installed in it?**
A: TM1602A does not have battery backup capability. The TM1602G does have the battery backup capability. The 1602G I have, came from my cable company with battery. The 1602A I got from Amazon is AC only. Spend the extra money and get the battery backup!

**Q: Is this modem wi-fi able? Or do i need to get a wireless router too?**
A: this is Modem Only  - you need to connect to it a wireless or wired router to use with multiple computers.

**Q: I have 100 mbps service from optimum. will i get faster internet with the tm1602a than with the tm822 even though i only have 100mbps comming in?**
A: You cannot get faster throughput via any modem than what you are receiving from your internet provider. The only thing you get with a higher performance/throughput modem is the assurance that, if you, later, increase your provider's service (which, likely, will cost more per month), that the modem will be able to handle it, up to the modem's limit, of course.
