Review: Excellent Ultralight 1000 Reel - Paired with a Fuji Panfish Ultralight rod and SOS Trout Magnet 2lb test, I’m very happy with this reel. I was using a Shimano Sienna 500 reel previously, but wanted to upgrade to a 1000 reel with a stronger bail and more line capacity. The drag is fantastic, and you don’t have to make large adjustments to dial in the feel. I will go by 1/4 turns in or out. The bail flip is solid and gives a good “pop feedback. Lastly, the matte finish looks nice but also feels nice when handled. I’m not a fan of chrome and glossy reels. Definitely an A++. Good value considering features vs. price.

Used 12lb Rncl braided line and this thing just sails. I was using spinner bait and switched to a 4oz lure and it still sailed. Love, love, love this reel. Paired with the Kastling Spartacus II pole, excellent action and makes for a perfect pairing! Okie dokie, after unboxing I thought I was going to return it because the bail was really tight and sort of got stuck or wanted to hang. I decided to give it a go anyway and stuck it on a 6ft6in rod, loaded it with 10 lb braided line with about a 10ft flourocarbon leader, also 10lb, and this thing cast a mile. It is smooth, silent as can be, and the bail isn't that bad afterall. clicks over pretty easy once on the rod and all loaded. I took it kayak fishing and tried it with several different lures. Even a light weight rooster tail seemed to fly a mile- even in the wind. I ended up letting my kid fish with it most of the day and she didn't have any issues with it even though it was her first time kayak fishing. The kid loved the reel, loved casting with it, decided I no longer needed it or the rod, and has now adopted it and given it a name. Sorry KastKing, but the Spartacus II is now known as...the Green Goblin. UPDATE: I bought a second one of these, loaded it with 12lb RUNCL Merced braid and it still casts a mile. Super smooth and super quiet. I added this one to a KastKing Spartacus II Fishing Rod (super amazing rod- you can see my review on that one) and the combo just looks and performs fantastic. The kid saw the combo and decided to rename it to, " The Green Arrow".

**Q: What rod matches the color of this Stryker green reel? Looks like a rod of the same color in the 2nd picture but can't find anything**
A: Not sure. I don't try to match rods and reels by color, but rather by need.

**Q: What size would be the most ideal for salmon and steelhead?**
A: The size 2000 would be fine; however, this reel's gear ratio is too slow for river fishing. I'd suggest the Valiant Eagle series in size 2000. The Valiant Eagle series has a much faster gear ratio; therefore, it is more suitable for river fishing in my experience.

**Q: Can I switch handle sides?**
A: Yes

**Q: I noticed the blue one (spindrift) has a higher line capacity and is IPX5 waterproof over the green one. Ate these 2 different reels?**
A: I believe they are the same reel, just different colors, both are the 3000.

Paired with a Fuji Panfish Ultralight rod and SOS Trout Magnet 2lb test, I’m very happy with this reel.
