Review: They work great!!!! - After replacing lint screens with wax blocking the screens too many times, I decided to do some research. I read about wool dryer balls and decided to give it a try. I am super impressed with how well they work. My clothes are softer and drying times are shorter. I've been using these for a couple of months now and they stay clean and keep their appearance. We do a minimum of 4-5 loads a week and they are holding up well. The noise level is a little higher when you first start the load. But as the clothes start to dry you don't hear them very much. The trade off of a little noise is worth it in my opinion. Traditional dryer sheets damage your clothes and your dryer. They are especially damaging to waterproof and moisture wicking materials. The wool dryer balls aren't harmful at all. We have noticed on days where the relative humidity is low that there is some increased static. The description says the wool itself is from NZ, but gives no indication where the balls are manufactured.** A: The wool is from NZ but based on the horrible English translation in the instructions, I’d bet they’re NOT made there. **Q: I have an extreme amount of static. If I don't use dryer sheets, the clothes are not wearable from static. Will the balls eliminate dryer static?** A: They do help, but don't over dry your items. Some items I never dry in the dryer, such as nylon or rayon. But as far as cottons, jeans, slacks. I haven't had a problem with static. Just use common sense and you should have no problems using the dryer balls. I do sprinkle a drop or two of esssential oils on the balls to put a little fragrance on the clothes, especiallly my husbands work clothes. I usually use lemon, lavendar, or tangerine. **Q: Why are there 6 of them? How many do you use in a load and how long do they last? Thank you!** A: The number of balls I use depends on the size of the load. I use 4 for small, 4 to 5 for medium and 6 for large. It's my understanding that they can last for 2 years depending on use. This is an experiment for me and so far so good.
