The handle doesn't heat. It's beautifully made. Its weakest point is the lid: the knob is held on the lid with a single screw which is already slipping. A small annoyance to an otherwise lovely old school stove top kettle. I'd buy this all over again if I had to. It's not cheap but it's far more charming than an electric kettle.
