I use ReptiEarth (fine fiber) as a 3” thick deep layer, with 1 1/2” ReptiChip (coarse chunks) on top. The ReptiEarth retains and releases moisture more regularly, but can get in my snakes’ mouths and nose pits, so the ReptiChip coarse covering protects them from direct contact with fine fibers.
