After smoking the collagen casing was easy to remove. I have not tried these on a sausage or other meat where the casing is consumed. It retained its rigidity after smoking which was great for the hotdogs but may be a little tough for a sausage. Size and quality were as advertised. This is not a natural casing (intestine), rather manufactured from beef collagen. **Q: If i'm making a small batch how can i store leftover hydrated casing? or can i cut length before using?** A: You can cut what you need before hydration. Once it's hydrated, I don't know that you could store it for long. **Q: Can i used it to boil?** A: yes. however you'd better control the temperture before boil.These are my favorite casings to use making sausage.
