When opened ( no pop of a seal, or safety wrap) item did not smell rancid but surely looked nasty- wet looking large pink clumps. Product photo alleges a "dry" looking product, but the nature of the item is blossoms soaked in vinegar and salted. Will re -evaluate and give proper stars after testing product because Amazon demands stars before posting.Update: product tastes fine cooks like recipe calls for, the look of the product after soaking was fine.
