It's only been about 14 months since I started using it. It worked great when it was still turning on and off and worked on the timer. I changed timer around during the different seasons and my plants have thrived under this light. I am just disappointed it didn't last longer. I got fair usage out of it given the price point. Wish they sold the top part with light sticks separately, as I would like to reuse the base/tripod. Buy this but know that these don't last too long.
