Inside the chip are three sensors, one is a classic 3-axis accelerometer, which can tell you which direction is down towards the Earth (by measuring gravity) or how fast the board is accelerating in 3D space. The other is a 3-axis magnetometer that can sense where the strongest magnetic force is coming from, generally used to detect magnetic north. The third is a 3-axis gyroscope that can measure spin and twist. By combining this data you can REALLY orient yourself. Characteristics: Accelerometer: ±2/±4/±8/±16 g (no ±6 g range). Magnetometer: ±4/±8/±12/±16 gauss ranges. Gyroscope: ±245/±500/±2000 dps ranges. The breakout board version of this sensor has both I2C and SPI interfaces. But the prices from this seller are astronomical compared to others.Literally 1/3 more. Don't waste your money with this price gouging seller. You can buy them for $10 cheaper elsewhere. ### ⭐ Very Large Percent Error *by J***H on November 20, 2019* It is a very unreliable device. I am a student at Georgia Tech, and my group was using this sensor to make our device. When hooked up to the computer, the sensors would randomly stop collecting data event hough it was all connected properly. Also, the gyroscope and accelerometers error is absurdly large, and we have been trying to validate our device for over 4 weeks. Each time the sensors data collected is very far off the trusted data.
