I'd had it maybe 12-15 years, it's been so long that I've lost track. It still worked but when the case around the plug cracked it was no longer safe to use. As much as I loved that dryer I decided to try one that didn't need replacement combs. So far, so good.I've used it 3 times. I didn't want to review after one use so here we go... I am African American with thick "4C" shoulder blade length hair. Surprisingly the dryer is much lighter than expected. The brush isn't too bulky to get my hair straight from roots to ends. Some reviewers complained about the noise but I always dry on low so noise is not an issue for me. Perhaps I should have tried high for the sake of the review.My hair dries nicely and it even appears to be a little longer because it's much more sleek and the ends are way smoother than before. My hair even seems to retain moisture better and overall it looks healthier without dry, frizzy ends. My hair dried very quickly with the first use so I timed the second and third uses. I went from 35-40 minutes to 22 minutes so it definitely saves time.My only complaint is that the paint wore off very quickly. The padlock icon wiped off with the first use, and the settings are barely visible after the third use. It's not a big deal since I'm familiar with how to use it but a small annoyance nonetheless.
