I kept the mist level set on low so it wouldn't create a puddle. It diffused oils, but only for a short time. Over the last month its gotten louder and louder, making a high-pitched whine. Then I couldn't turn it off. I had to unplug it. When I plugged it back in, it wouldn't turn on. It may be a decent humidifier when it's on, but it is absolutely impossible to clean properly. It has to be scrubbed every day, otherwise you will see mold growing there as water stands still in a hole at the bottom. There are a ton of hard to reach spots - long holes and tiny crevices, even in places that don't make sense like the handle. After using this humidifier on a daily basis for several months, I simply can't ever keep it clean enough - it's impossible.
