There are also some cars that program after 4 times instead of 8, but the vast majority are 8 times. Try different methods, doors locked, then doors unlocked, then try 8 times ending in off position with doors locked then try ending in off position with them unlocked, it will be a little frustrating, but chances are you'll get it to work.
