Review: Stole from my check in bag! - So, I purchased this item right before leaving to the Dominican Republic thinking what an awesome idea to use while snorkeling or diving! Super excited to see how it works!! Once we were there we didn’t feel the need to use the band due to the water being really clear and felt as though we didn’t need it for this trip. But, we do have other beach trips planned and I do swim in the gulf in Texas which the band would be really helpful and put my mind at ease! So, the band was NEVER taking out of our suitcase while in the Dominican! We flew home on Sun country airlines and checked our bag in thinking the band couldn’t go in our carry on bags, well big mistake!! Once we got home I opened the suitcase to find that the box that the band came in was empty! Not very happy that I purchased which wasn’t cheap and didn’t even get a chance to use it... So just a heads up! Keep your band or bandz with you at all times while traveling! People like to steal and it’s really sad! Review: Worth the purchase - I do a lot of spearfishing in very shark infested waters, shark bite capital of the world, Volusia County FL. I have had several encounters with Bull Sharks, with fish on a stringer and activity dispatching fish, the sharks will come in to investigate but soon turn away. I had a Bull Shark take my fish off my spear shaft will free diving, however the shark never came at me. I have several friend that spearfish with me, they don’t wear shark banz and have had to push or fight sharks off their stringers. Knock on something, I’ve never had a close call or a problem while wearing the banz. I have three and my wife and kids wear them while wearing spearfish, never had an issue. We see lots of sharks, but no issues. I plan on buying another one, another one of our kids is getting dive certified, he will be wearing it. These fish have electro receptors all around their faces and gills. The strong magnet over stimulates these receptors, and therefore is an uncomfortably overwhelming sensation for the shark. Killer whales are mammals and don't have these receptors sites. **Q: What's the difference between Sharkbanz and Sharkbanz 2 for the price difference?** A: The Sharkbanz was the original production model. The Sharbanz 2 is an updated model. I can only comment about comfort and appearance. The newer version, the band is softer, more pliable and comfortable, and easier to fasten and unfasten. The shape has been slightly modified so it fits much better around your ankle. I would not buy the older version because it just represents "old stock" that has not previously sold. **Q: Will this deter whale sharks? Going snorkeling and hoping to see some.** A: i doubt it **Q: If you wear a race chip on the left ankle and this band on the right, would it interfere with race chip?** A: Luis, Great question. The real answer is only found in determining if the race chip is effected by magnetic polarity. If you have a compass near sharkbanz it will displace the polarity of the compass causing the needle to spin. I would confirm with race officials and bring the sharkbanz to a judge and test before the race.
