When they are tighter we may use them as a base layer in the mountains. In Southern Cali we use these wonderful jammies with a working sleep sack in the winter and I guess without when summer rolls around. I love the black best but the blue is also calming and beautiful. We only wash them if they become visible soiled (merino is anti microbial and releases odors brilliantly) and they wash up great. I usually use wool wash and do a hand wash or run them through a cold washer cycle with a regular load (seventh generation scent free detergent) or a merino wool wash load. Does fine with either. They will survive the dryer according to the tag but shrink ever so slightly (they may go back if air dried after the next wash). I think they feel slightly softer after airdrying. I'm thinking of stocking up on the next size now that the price dropped so low. If you do the math even at 70 they are still worth it considering my little monster only needs two pairs for the next couple years through all seasons. It simplifies things too which is a plus. My son wears this under a layer of cotton pjs and he never complains of being too warm or too hot.
