You have to fit a taller plate to attach these to but it takes very little time to do.You must drill the screw holes in the backing plate before attempting to fit it.My advice is to drill two holes, one on either side of the ladder, using an extending ladder placed on the opposite side to the loft ladder, carry it into the loft, place a plank across the loft opening, sit on the plank, position the ladders and screw the screws in.You can then drill as many screw holes as necessary once it is in position and fit more screws.Then, and only then, extend the ladder down.It is very stable and my floor to ceiling height is at the upper end of the ladder's reach.Well worth the money and extra effort of altering the loft hatch. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Parfait *by D***O on Reviewed in France on 28 March 2020* Je savais pas du tout si ça allait marcher (mezzanine pas de trappe et moins haut que le minimum indiqué) mais heureusement c'est parfait j'ai enlevé un élément au milieu et monté la planche de haut avec des chevilles en métal et des boulons énormes dans le béton.
