It was sturdy for the whole trip. We used in on a RAV4 and the size was perfect for the roof racks.There is more room inside than I thought there would be. We bagged items in garbage bags for extra protection. The bag got a little damp inside but not our items. It is water resistant not water proof. Once secured I did cross cross two bungees across the bag. We checked on it every couple hours and there was no load shift at all. The bag still looks new after a 1300 mile round trip through rain and 90+ degree weather. Try to tuck any extra fabric under the bag and tie the straps to get rid of the slack to reduce noise and flapping. Another extra precaution I took was to use a clip to hold the zippers closed just in case but they never moved.
