This causes random water puddles in various areas of the kitchen and is a hassle to find and clean up after every meal. The bowls we use for our cats are also "non-slip" bowls, so I was hoping doubling down on the non-slip with this mat would do the trick, but I guess my cat is very determined to play with his water bowl, as we now end up finding the bowl flipped upside down on this mat.Some pros about this mat: I'm not giving it a one-star rating because the mat itself has not slipped around my kitchen, it's stayed in its place and holds the food bowls pretty well. It also has a rising edge that holds in any spilled liquid rather than a smooth flat one that would run into the kitchen, which makes spillage cleanup easier and more contained. Its also easy to clean being a rubbery floppy mat. All-in-all, it does its best at what it's supposed to do, but it's just not the right fit for my cat. I can see this being useful for someone with tiny little kittens, but don't expect this to be the end-all bowl playing fix for strong, determined adult cats, as they can still push bowls around slightly or knock it upside down.One last con to note though is the smell right out of the packaging- it has that fresh from the factory smell upon opening and the fumes are way stronger than any other product I've ever received with the smell. I had to air out the mats for a few days outside before I was comfortable using it near my cats. Smell is now non-existent. We got one for our cat food and one for our dog food. Our dog would eat all of her food but as she does it spills off the plate and all over the tile floor. She's lazy so she just leaves it there. This mat contains her mess; no more food all over the floor! It has a small lip and so it doesn't spill out.Cleaning these are so easy - just pop it in the dishwasher! I have 3 cats and 1 of them is a "bowl dipper," in other words he sticks his paw into the water bowl and displaces half of the water. So in getting this mat the water doesn't sit on my wood floor or even a towel I've tried putting underneath which quickly gets musty. The only down side to this is that unless I actually wipe the water off of it, if I try to pick it up and dump it it's too wimpy to make it to the sink and spills all over the floor. So I wish it was thicker.
