I have only used this product for masking model kits and pairing with acrylic paints. I don’t know if it will work for water color **Q: Can I use it to protect handles and hinges on cabinets I'm painting?** A: I would not use this product to keep paint from getting onto my cabinet hardware. It is very thin and is to be used on a surface like paper or canvas. I am using this mask on my canvas or paper to block another paint from covering the color I wish to keep. then when the new color of paint is dry, I gently rub off the mask and the color I protected is true. I would use painter's masking tape to protect your cabinet hardware. **Q: I prime painted the entire surface.
