Just don’t buy it expecting a real hand-hammered wok. Pros - Excellent value for the price - Good carbon steel wok that seasons well - Large cooking surface - Useful starter accessories included Cons - Not actually hand hammered (misleading listing) - Flimsy wok ring - Cheap utensils WOK Overall I think this wok is a great value for the price but the “hand hammered” description is just not true. That’s the main reason I’m giving it 4 stars instead of 5. HAND-HAMMERED CLAIM First, let’s address the biggest claim: this wok is OBVIOUSLY not hand hammered. A true hand-hammered wok will have visible hammer marks or small divots across the metal surface from the manual forging process. This wok is machine pressed and the surface is smooth with no hammer pattern. That doesn’t make it a bad wok at all, it just means the listing isn’t accurate. If you’re curious about what real hand-hammered woks look like, I highly recommend checking out Jon Kung on YouTube, who does a great deep dive explaining wok construction. As he points out, there are only two Chinese manufacturers that produce authentic hand-hammered woks imported into the U.S.: Oxenforge and ZhenSanHuan. Their woks typically run $130–$250+, which makes sense because true hand hammering is labor-intensive. At $39.99, this Teewe wok clearly isn’t in that category. That said, for the price it’s actually an excellent buy. The carbon steel heats up quickly, seasons well, and works exactly how a wok should once you get a good seasoning layer on it. ACCESSORIES The included accessories, however, are very much budget quality: The stainless steel wok ring is extremely light and flimsy. It also doesn’t have grooves to lock it onto a gas burner grate, so it tends to slide around. The spoons and spatulas feel very cheap and mine were already starting to loosen after the first use. You also get plastic chopsticks, a utensil rack that sits on the wok, an instruction manual, and a bamboo cleaning brush; which are a nice addition. Honestly, at this price point I expected the accessories to be cheap, so I don’t really count that against the wok itself. WOK RING UPGRADE One thing I do recommend upgrading is the wok ring. I replaced the included one with a cast iron wok ring from Charbrofire on Amazon, which has grooves that lock onto the stove grates and is much heavier and more stable. That upgrade made a big difference when cooking. CONCLUSION Overall, great wok for $39.99, just be aware of what you’re actually getting.
