OGO Origin's composting toilet solution was engineered for the best functional use possible. The OGO Origin works by diverting urine away from solids waste using our patented trap door system. OGO's electric agitator "flushes" after every solids use with the push of a button and our urine sensor indicates when you need to empty the bottle.

Added note..had this toilet for three months and the motor packed up after two months …tried sending it back ( or getting parts to fix myself) for over four weeks but seller not responding…my advice is buy from someone else..someone who cares maybe..???

**Q: How does the Origin control odor?**
A: A urine-diverting trap door sends liquids to a front bottle and keeps solids dry — mixing the two is what causes odor. A quiet 12V fan vents the solids bin continuously.

**Q: Do I have to crank it by hand?**
A: No. A push-button electric agitator churns the solids with your composting medium, so there's no handle to turn and no lid to open while it runs.

**Q: What power does it need? Will it run on solar?**
A: It runs on 12V DC and draws about 0.48 amps a day for the fan — low enough for a modest solar setup in a van, RV, tiny home or boat.

**Q: What composting medium works best?**
A: Coco coir. If it comes as a brick, hydrate it in a separate container first, then fill the solids bin a little over half. Sphagnum peat moss also works. Skip hemp — it's too fine for the agitator.

**Q: How many uses before I empty the solids bin?**
A: About 25 to 30 solids uses per load of coco coir. The bin lifts out for disposal, and a fresh load of medium takes a minute to set up.

If I could give this 100 stars, I would! Fabulous composting toilet in every way. Easy instructions to install, easy to use, NO SMELL whatsoever. We had a different composting toilet years back and it was awful - smell, bulkiness, etc. The OGO is a dream!!!!! The design is also great - sleek and so easy use and clean as well. Couldn’t be happier with it. We use it as our main toilet in our small cabin. Fabulous value for the price too! Also, customer service is OUTSTANDING! Staff is easily reachable by phone; very friendly and knowledgeable. Great product and great company! HIGHLY recommend OGO in every way!!!!
