## Description

desertcart.com : Alata Pitcher Plant - Nepenthes Live Carnivorous Plant by Wellspring Gardens - Easy to Grow Starter Bulbs Great for Nature Lovers & Gardeners - Outdoor & Indoor Aquatic Planting : Patio, Lawn & Garden

Review: In Seven Days - I ordered my Nepenthes St. Gaya from Wellspring Gardens, and I couldn’t be happier! It arrived in perfect condition — packaged in a cute little cardboard box with a Wellspring Gardens opaque bag and detailed first-step instructions. The care guide even pointed me to their website for more info (which I totally appreciated). Right out of the box, I gave my little carnivorous buddy some rainwater (only the best — no tap water ever!) and set it in bright, indirect light for about a day and a half to let it settle. After that, I slowly acclimated it — 2 hours of direct morning sun, then back to indirect light. Growth started almost immediately. Within days, a new leaf split open and a baby pitcher began forming! 🌱 Now it lives happily in my east window, basking in that gentle morning sunshine. You can actually see the bronze-red color deepen as it soaks up the light — a sure sign it’s happy. Plus, it’s grown taller since day one; when it arrived, it sat below the little rubber band, and now it’s stretching proudly above it. Next step is transplanting it into a 6-inch self-watering pot, but I’ll be keeping a careful eye since this species likes moisture without sogginess (overwatering = doom). Overall, I’m blown away by the quality and health of this plant. Wellspring Gardens clearly takes pride in their work and it shows. If you’re thinking about getting a St. Gaya, do it! Just remember: rainwater or distilled water only, gentle acclimation, and a little patience. You’ll be rewarded with stunning growth and those iconic, alien-looking pitchers that make you feel like you’re raising a mini Jurassic Park specimen. 🦖💚 (Attached photos show how much my St. Gaya has grown — you can literally see the difference!)
Review: Gaya arrived in great condition - I am thrilled with my plant. It is beautiful, healthy, and the only pest I found was a hatchling snail the size of a grain of sand. I am very lucky mine came with a little basal shoot! I did not see a way to add a heat pack to my order since it's November, but all the information says "Florida grown" so I predicted safe temperatures. When it shipped from Texas which is a drastically different route, I thought it was a goner! But luckily it only got some stress coloring and is perfectly unharmed. :) Thumbs up. Something I found a little annoying was the roots were bound in a small amount of normal peat soil wrapped in a piece of thin fabric, similar to dryer sheets. That bundle was tucked into long sphagnum moss. I tried to get a closeup in one of my photos so others can see. The roots had grown through the fabric stuff and into the moss, which made removal of that bundle super difficult. I ripped off over half of the roots just trying to get the bundle off which probably hurt me way more than it did the little nepenthes. Looking forward to watching it grow!

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Can I plant my alata in mushroom compost?**
A: It should be planted in sphagnum moss. Thanks!

**Q: Is it really going to be what it show's and says it's going to be?**
A: My plant shipped in perfect condition, it was considerably smaller than I expected. (But then I only paid $12.) Hopefully it will grow. It has 5 small "pitchers" on it

**Q: Hi. What does the plant come with?**
A: The plants may not be what you expect. Check size of container. Small will be VERY SMALL. May not gave pitchers. May have a few leaves. Pics tend to be of mature plants. Only one I ordered was even close to the pic. You probably will be your own pot and special soil (orchid type soil).

**Q: Are you supposed to feed the plant?**
A: No. But I have done occasionally. I use meal worms or grubs. It is important to see that liquid remains in the pitchers, and never water with tap water. In nature plants would be subject to rainfall. They hate rich soil and fertilizer follow guidelines sent by growers or online. Don’t over feed.

So very happy plant came packaged securely and healthy it took like a week or so and then it just started growing like a weed. It is actually doing better than any other plants that I have purchased so much so I have to move it because it’s growing so much and popping out pitchers every couple of days
