Are you forced to take it off and reapply adhesive to do so?** A: 3M adhesive is attached to the base. The batteries seem to last a long time too. **Q: Does the remote work through a wall or closed door? I am looking to use them for an exam room notification system.** A: No it does not work through a closed door or wall. The signal is not strong enough. It will work within a few feet, but in an open room.
