I don’t want a “plastic” hot mattress cover?** A: I'm naturally a hot natured person and this mattress pad hasn't given me any issues. It is very comfortable and quiet **Q: Can you wash it ?** A: Yes. I laundered with regular laundry detergent (1/8 cup as sugessted by a repair person.) "Regular" or "delicate" cycle will work. I did "air-dried" the first wash to be on the safe side and there was no shrinkage. I will try a "low-temp" in dryer next time. I really think the dryer is okay if you use the "delicate" or "low heat" cycle. I have 3 of these and would for sure purchase again. **Q: Does it protect the mattress from night sweats?** A: I am always cold and never sweat. I also buy hotel sheets at Macy's. I pay more but find it last longer and its so soft. **Q: Can I put this in the dryer without ruining the backing?** A: I dried mine on a light setting with a dry towel included in the dryer. This seems like good quality but time will tell, will update if things go south. In terms of putting the actual protector on the bed, it was really easy to do by myself which sounds kind of silly but sometimes the sheet/protectors can be really annoying for someone to do by themselves. This one was big enough where there wasn't a hassle. Its the little things in life.In terms of water protection, I haven't needed to use it yet but I could see it working well, the vinyl layer looks decent enough and would block liquids.
