Does it really go bad? thanks.** A: Actually it does loose it's strength. I kept it tightly closed as soon as I removed the measured amount. The recommendation is to replace every year. Mine was fine for 2 years. Then it noticeably was not able to adequate leaven springerle cookies. It still smelled very strong in the container, but the cookies didn't smell as strong when drying which was a clue. Then they didn't rise enough; cookies were like eating flour. I discarded 2 whole batches of springerle before figuring out why. And those take a very long time to mold.
