Review: Works really well - I recently started coating again as a retirement hobby after owning/running a powdercoat shop years ago. This gun works as well as the guns we used back then that were substantially more expensive. Break down for cleaning is really easy. My only complaint is the powder cup doesn't inspire confidence when attaching it. The threads don't seem to lock in. (Hard to explain). Review: Forget HF and similar systems! - Have used the HF gun for the last year and it had me convinced that powder coating was almost a game of luck. On the right day, with the right temp and humidity, with the right powder for that day, etc. etc. - I could "possibly" get good results. I had gotten to the point where I didn't look forward to powder coating at all. I finally got fed up enough that I started looking at other systems - just to see what I might be missing? Settled on this system and it arrived today. After getting it hooked up and ready, I took a deep breath and started coating a small part. Set to only the 40kv mark, the powder went onto the part effortlessly. I was blown away by how little powder was needed to coat the part. I then grabbed some old powder that I was convinced was bad and wouldn't stick at all on the old system. Went at it with a 60kv setting and bam - part was coated completely in just a minute or two. This system has given me a whole new appreciation for powder coating. If any of my issues sound familiar to you, you won't be disappointed - not at all! A few tiny things to mention though: 1) the cup is soft plastic and I doubt it is going to survive for a lot of years. I would prefer glass jars just like this but I guess sourcing some spare plastic ones would be fine. 2) I had to remove the clip for the ground wire to the parts as I needed to extend it. Something the company should think about is that I try to keep the controller as far away as I can from being contaminated with powder. Maybe some optional extension kit would be great? I also discovered that the cable solder joint was totally cold and did not adhere to the clip. Get some flux on there folks and give it a bunch heat. As the docs state - grounding is the key so make sure ya'll get that right :) 3) When I was plumbing the control valve onto the gun, it wanted to cross thread. It took several attempts of trying before I finally massaged it into its threads correctly. 4) I was not impressed with the control valve at all. Made of plastic and I suspect that the first time I step on the hose by accident - its gonna break. Hopefully, the company is seeing the trend here as my beefs are centered on using plastic parts where I feel metal parts make much more sense. 5) The only other issue was an air line fitting that was not pushed on all the way from the factory. The small black air line fitting that feeds the unit. In summary, I believe that the company is letting itself down by using these plastic parts. The gun and system in general are so damn good, it seems a shame to have things like this to mention. Make the extra investment to get these parts to metal and you have a total winner of a system. I am still leaving 5 stars regardless as it has enough kv onboard to make the hairs on my arm tingle when I pull the trigger - lol.
