The bar attachment adapter well thought out and engineered and allowed me to easily reattach my front light from the handlebars forward to the front of the basket. The basket has been further thought out for how it is carried (handles) and has little rubber feet to set it down. The integrated rain enclosure is well done, except my dog is definitely going to chew the rope closure to bits because it is stored inside the basket. There is also a safety latch for attaching the dog leash or otherwise securing something else inside, but that also could be a risk of something that your dog goes to chew up. I will note that I had to adjust the "tilt screw" to its maximum and there is still a slight back lean, but I think that might be appropriate and intentional. Not the adapter.** A: It sucks. Don’t buy it. **Q: What is the heaviest a dog can be** A: I wouldn’t go over 15 pounds! **Q: Maximum weight** A: I don’t use it for my dogs but it can handle a lot I am a teacher and I commute to work. I carry food, clothing, dry erase boards, bike lock, sanitizer. Extra mittens/scarf/jacket etc sometimes my helmet, etc. Sometimes a bag with teacher stuff, shoes, etc etc etc. I don’t know that I can give an exact weight and of course the weight on the front could affect your ride/steering/handlebars, so you have to get used to it… but I’ll bet it can probably handle between 25-35 pounds. **Q: What the distance between mounting brackets?** A: The inside distance is 2 1/8” and the outside distance is 3 1/4”. Sorry for the delayed response - my bike hangs from the ceiling in the garage, and I had to wait to get it down. Hope this helps. Easy to attach to front of a bike. Snaps into place. I used it to take my senior dog on bike rides. She was older and I wanted to give her the best life I could. I felt she was safe in the basket. It was deep for her, so I used a thick towel to get her up high enough for her to see. The basket was sturdy and secure.
