**Q: Does this require a quick trigger finger in order to apply ???**
A: Hmm, not especially.  We've found that the best application method is to spray the product onto a microfiber cloth or rag and then wipe onto the blade.

**Q: Does the "knife shield" have any grit (abrasive properties)?**
A: The Knife Shield is a plant based product and does not contain abrasives.

**Q: What's the difference between the two products**
A: The one in the picture is the one that I bought because it does everything the other product does and is a better lubricant and rust preventer. I don't see why you would need both.

**Q: Can this be used for a damascus knife?**
A: Yes. It’s knife oil and can be used for Damascus steel. I use it all the time with my 1095 carbon steel which will rust a lot faster than any steel that claims to be Damascus.

I don't own but one high-carbon steel knife, and it does occasionally get used for food prep. I needed a way to maintain it, and when a search turned up that KPL had a food-safe oil engineered for carbon steel knives, I knew that would be the safest choice to go with as I've used their pivot oils for quite some time, and very much like using them on my knives. Nobody has gotten sick from any food prepared with this, it doesn't have much of a scent, and certainly has done its job protecting my knife. I don't necessarily live in a humid area, but rust gonna rust if you're not minding your gear. This is a fairly thick oil that likes to spread easily, so not much is generally needed. It also coats the blade quite nicely and stays there through storage or carry at any angle, it's not going to run or drop off even in the heat. Can't go wrong with KPL oils, I highly recommend them if you're looking to maintain your knives and extend their longevity.
