I bought the 2 qt model, thinking the 4qt model was too big. I like the solid construction and attractive appearance. The mill works pretty well. I've made applesauce and "squeezed" pomegranate juice. The 2 qt size is fine for those two uses. I could see how the 4 qt model is more appropriate if you do heavy duty amounts, such as for canning. I knew in advance that the wire handle is not ideal. I would agree that it is a bit uncomfortable. Since you are holding it for maybe 5 minutes, it's only a minor annoyance. The one surprise I had was...on the 4 qt model, and on competing models, the grates are removable and interchangeable. For the 2 qt model, the grate is built in and can't be removed. This makes it harder to clean. I suspect this also limits the uses for the 2 qt model, although for my uses this hasn't affected me. If I had realized that the grate was non-changeable, I probably would have bought the 4 qt model, just to have a more versatile food mill.
