I was even pleasantly surprised that the back pocket, with some coaxing, fit my 5 inch smartphone (I don't recommend this unless you put your phone in plastic bag, otherwise it will be soaked in sweat). The downside of these shorts is the bad smell even after washing. I own other pieces of workout clothing that consist of synthetic fabric, and after washing, they smell neutral at worst.
