**Q: How tall is this?**
A: The description says about 12.5".  I thought it was just slightly taller than that (maybe 13-14"), but I could believe that's about the right ballpark.  Once I pull out my decorations, I can provide a better measurement, but 12.5" is probably correct.

**Q: Can anyone tell me whether this runs on batteries or only by adaptor?**
A: Only an adapter.

This is a great edition to my village. Great idea that you can control the volume for the music. Make sure when assembling it that you keep the tree branches away from the rotating arm as if the snag the whole thing topples over. Also make sure the base is sitting on a flat surface , I had mine sitting on a snow blanket and when it rotated it toppled over.
