We have 4 that all use the exterior antenna.** A: This would depend upon the signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) at the coax from the antenna. You should check 1st to see if you get sufficient SNR going straight from antenna into 1 TV. Typically RF splitters for coax (1 in & 2 out) have 3.5dB loss per split. So, for 4 TVs you would have roughly 7dB of signal power loss and the amplifier would need to have enough gain to make up got the loss due to splits. Above amplifier has 24dB gain so it more than makes up for the 7dB loss. Depending upon your TV's input dynamic range, you might even need to turn the gain down so as not to saturate. It is best to put the amplifier near the antenna in the signal path and before any splitter. FWIW; I have a 4-way splitter after the amplifier feeding 4 TVs and 1 FM radio and seems to work pretty good so far. **Q: I run a single tv off of an outdoor antenna, can i place this right at rhe tv or does it need to be a certain distance from the set??** A: We have the amplifier right under the wall-mounted TV sitting on the mantle. We haven't tried repositioning it elsewhere. The TV jack and outlet are next to each other. I believe it would depend on where your jack and outlet are located to really determine the distance the amplifier can be placed from the TV. **Q: I've channel master cm-1776 and i live about 2 miles from towers. video looks great but i see pauses, both video and sound. will this amplifier help?** A: I don't know but a tower 2 miles from you should not require and amplifier to receive the signal. The tower I was trying to access was 63 miles away. **Q: Will it help just boost the signal on old FM stereo, all by itself with nothing else running off of it?** A: You need an antenna. An old set of rabbit ears will do. It works so well at getting our living room TV more clear channels, we ordered two more to put in a bedroom and the basement. (If it were logistically possible, I'd just put one on the line-in, but this works too.) We're out in the rural'ish exurban outskirts of a metropolitan area. Weather events like wind and rain, and even the leaves on the trees in the summer, impact reception. With this amplifier, everything becomes stable and clear. The same signal that at times produced iffy reception after going through the house's coaxial cable infrastructure, is now amplified to produce channels we didn't before have available. Public television is now watchable! 60+ channels are watchable and clear on a regular day. That's pretty good for our area! I also suspect that the additive properties of having 3 of these might be clearing up signal even more in some unknown way. I'm writing this glowing review, because I've tried so many varieties of gimmick amplification devices, and most of them did nothing. There is a lot of garbage out there. This, however, is the real deal. It works. It produces an overall improvement in signal strength, and it's measurable. This is the one. It doesn't seem to produce much if any heat, either, which is fantastic when you consider this might get installed on a wall somewhere-- and it has built-in mounts to do so.
