See attached photos - each of the drawers can be pulled out separately. I wondered this as all of the product pictures only seemed to show the top drawers both pulled out at the same time. Assembly: Yes, it comes in several pieces that you must assemble, which we expected considering it was an online purchase of a large item. You must follow the instructions as written and compare each step to the photos shown in the instructions. **For example, make sure you look at the photos to know what side of the boards should be placed where (whether the side shows screws facing in or out, etc). I can imagine being very frustrated and having to start over if you miss a step or place a board on backwards and don't realize it until it is too late! My husband and I put this together in about 2 hours and 45 minutes. So, yes, it takes some time, but was well worth it! It is very good quality wood. No pieces were damaged or scraped when ours arrived. All pieces were packaged with proper padding, which was nice. If you can spare some time to assemble it, you won't be disappointed! We love it!

We ordered this dresser for our first baby's nursery. It is a beautiful espresso color and is of great quality! See attached photos - each of the drawers can be pulled out separately.
