Each is interconnected so when one goes off, they all go off. This is a must have for any home and should be standard. Many times in the past, I have missed a smoke alarm going off because I was in the shop or some other part of the house where an alarm is challenging to hear. These mitigate situations where you are not aware.The other day, I had lit a stick of incense and placed it in an old planter pot that had dirt in it. Well, it managed to burn the dirt and melt the plastic liner in the pot. I was in the shop at the time and when the kitchen detector went off, so did the one in the shop.The X-Sense detectors that link are a little more spendy, however I can say that the feature is well worth it.What I like:* Easy install* well made with quality parts. These not only look good but they also feel substantial* Interconnectivity!* No need to fool around with another app on my phone. I like the simplicity although I do like the Nest Protect’s ability to send a notification and turn off the HVAC if smoke is present.
