The Girl Who Belonged to the Sea.
Well this is going to be a shortish review because I couldn’t wait and have already started book two of this amazing series. The Girl Who Belonged To The Sea had me hooked from the first chapter - I seriously loved everything about this book. The author has created this beautiful world with these intriguing characters ( including a broody king with living tattoos and all the pirate vibes ) that instantly sweeps you off to sea along with the rest of the story. As someone who is always wanting to find a fantasy book set at sea with pirates and sea monsters this book met all my expectations - especially since the main characters Margrete and Bash’s relationship starts out as enemies and turns into a slow-burn romance. The Girl Who Belonged To The Sea is a stunning book filled with all the action and adventure you could want in a fantasy romance and a bit of mystery. If you’re looking for your next binge read then I definitely recommend you pick this one up - fair warning though you won’t be able to put it down until you’ve reached the final pages.

"The Girl Who Belonged To The Sea" by Katherine Quinn.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️🌶️🌶️The story follows Margrete and Bash, in a stunning pirate crossed with Atlantis style story. Their enemies-to-lovers dynamic is compelling, with each encounter crackling with tension and chemistry. The development of their relationship is satisfying and the slow burn at the beginning is so fantastic. The world-building in this book is insane. Quinn creates an immersive setting that transports you to a magical realm. The vivid descriptions and rich details make it easy to lose yourself in this beautiful story.I will say, with all the descriptions comes a slow progression. There are moments where the pacing dragged for me, testing my patience just a touch. Despite this, the overall beauty of the narrative and the depth of the characters make it well worth the read.Overall, this is a beautiful story with a mesmerizing setting and an engaging enemies-to-lovers romance. Highly recommended for those who appreciate detailed world-building and well-developed characters.

Enemies to lovers? Mmm, not quite (mild spoilers)
If this is enemies to lovers, then so was A Cinderella Story, and the first five minutes of Princess Bride. You can’t be enemies to lovers if you both just angry flirt back and forth the whole time and wax poetic about how hot each other are from the beginning. Also it’s not enemies to lovers if literally EVERYONE who meets her instantly treats her with respect and love and friendship, keeping her pampered and happy and literally never threatening her. Even her father is only vaguely menacing?? And he’s supposed to be like, TERRIFYING?? So if you’re looking for that trope - it’s not here. Also love how MC apparently desperately cares for her sister, but doesn’t worry about her in the slightest unless Birdie’s in front of her. Not a wink of wasted sleep there - nope. Even though that was the one thing she bargained for from her father, was for Birdie to go with her.Anyways, overly flowery romantic prose at times, everyone is super hot, everyone loves her, so many romance tropes in one book, but a cool world. I liked the myths and legends probably more than the plot. Even though there’s plenty of danger, it never really feels that way, and the cliffhanger is just enough to spark some interest in the second book. Oh, and the sex scene was pretty good, if you care about that.

One of my favorites
WOW. So good. I devoured this book and immediately needed the next one. Katherine Quinn has a way with descriptions that is so beautiful and really helps you envision what's going on. The main characters all have such great development, which is impressive for just one book. The banter between the characters, especially Bash and Margrete, is so great and is a wonderfully executed enemies-to-lovers relationship. And the tension! Very well-written and left me always wanting more! There was a good balance between the relationships forming and the outside conflict going on. Quinn did a great job of leaving little clues and snippets to hold on to for later, and then bringing them back into play for some grand reveal or twist. I loved it and cannot wait to see where she takes this story!

Fantastic read with pirates, gods and romamce.
This book has a sexy pirate king, warring gods, sea monsters, a heroine who finds her power and romance. I absolutely plan to read the second book. The characters are well written and all very likable. The world is immersive.Tropes:• Enemies to Lovers• Found Power• Forced ProximitySpice: 🌶🌶There are two open door scenes between the love interests. One scene is foreplay only. There is also a scene where the MMC takes care of himself. All the scenes have a decent level of detail.

Delicious ETL energy
Such delicious ETL energy between a roguish pirate king and his enemy’s daughter. I am so weak for how much Bash loves goading Margrete and calling “princess” all while being unabashedly VERY into her.My stomach is a riot of butterflies. This book is phenomenal and a new favorite with romance that is both HOT and sweet and just makes me yearn. And the end is so, so good. My heart is racing. Can’t spoil what happens, but I’m dying for the next book, and more Margrete and Bash (one of my new favorite couples).

great first book
This is the beginning of a trilogy, not sure if it’s the author’s first book or not but it was really good. The writing flowed together beautifully. I really loved Margarete and Bash… I’m a little worried about starting the 2nd book, when the third hasn’t yet been announced when it will be released.

A Good Start To a New Fantasy Series
This book was an excellent beginning. Set in a tale full of pirates, enemies to lovers, secret identities, vengeful gods, and some sweet romance.I will say the enemies to lovers was barely ETL. More insta love than anything. But I love Margrete and Bash, which made up for it.Intrigued to see where the sequel takes us.

Carino e interessante
Un racconto carino e interessante. Più della trama, ciò che è davvero originale è l’ambientazione marittima, con un’isola magica e piena di leggende, e l’intrigo: anche se in alcuni punti prevedibile, decisamente accattivante.TRAMA: 7,7PERSONAGGI: 7,5ATMOSFERA: 9INTRIGO: 8,5LOGICA: 8STILE DI SCRITTURA: 7,5ENJOIMENT: 8Punteggio totale: 8,02⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

fun and addictive read
I finished this book in one evening and I loved it. Did it have some cliche elements? Sure. But you really don’t care because it’s a fun and addictive read. Feisty heroine, a king desperate to save his home, gods, mystical sea creatures and a forbidden romance. It’s a solid start to this new series. Yes, it’s a trilogy! And I am really interested to see where things go from here. Highly recommend! Especially if you’re a fan of enemies-to-lovers romances!
