## Questions & Answers

**Q: How does the WA-47jr sound compared to modern condenser microphones?**
A: The WA-47jr is voiced with a vintage-leaning character: big low end, rich midrange depth, and a smooth, natural top end. Compared to modern condensers that emphasize brightness, the WA-47jr delivers fuller, classic tone that sits naturally in a mix.

**Q: What do the three polar patterns do?**
A: Cardioid focuses on the source while minimizing room sound. Omni captures a natural room response. Figure-8 captures front and back while rejecting sides, ideal for duets and stereo. These options provide real studio flexibility.

**Q: When should I use the pad and high-pass filter?**
A: Use the -10 dB pad when recording loud sources like drums, guitar cabinets, or powerful vocals to prevent overload. Engage the 70 Hz high-pass filter to reduce rumble, proximity buildup, or low-frequency noise before it reaches your signal chain.

**Q: Does the WA-47jr require phantom power?**
A: Yes. The WA-47jr is an XLR condenser microphone and requires 48V phantom power, supplied by an audio interface, mixer, or external preamp.

**Q: Is the WA-47jr good for home studios?**
A: While it’s a professional studio microphone, the WA-47jr is well suited for home studios thanks to its controlled top end, flexible polar patterns, and included shockmount, helping you capture high-quality recordings even in less-than-perfect rooms.
