Our current carseat has a max weight of 65 lbs, but only of 45 lbs. if used with the latch system. So, I can use the carseat until my kid is 65 lbs IF I use install it with the seatbelt, but if I use the latch system to install, the kid's weight maxes out at 45 lbs. Our pediatrician explained that the reason for this is that the latch system is sufficient for 45 lbs in the case of an accident. If you install the carseat with a seatbelt, the seatbelt takes part of the force, so the child can weigh more than 45 lbs. Similar thing with a booster seat: With a booster seat, the seatbelt takes on part of the weight of the child rather than the latch system entirely holding onto the weight of the child + seat. I realize I don't actually have an answer to the question (I was looking through the Q&A with the same question in mind). So far I’m not disappointed. My daughter is 6 yrs old and is tall for her age. She was using a backless Graco booster seat until I could find one I liked with a back because she falls asleep a lot in the car and I wanted the extra side safety for her head. Also, She kept complaining of feeling car sick. Now that she is using this one she does not complain of being sick! No problems with her buckling her seat belt on her own or getting in and out of seat and car. She has room and fits in the seat just great. The seat was easy to install. I was a bit concerned because the back only has two positions and I thought it might not lay flat in seat like it is supposed to but it fits just fine in a 2016 Honda Pilot. We did turn the head rest around or we could have just removed the head rest but either way the booster sits properly once we did that. I also like that it is all black and matches the car interior. I think it looks neater and it will easily hide dirt. With it being all black it does not get hot either sitting in the car in the hot summer VA months. I don’t have any problems with it falling over when she is not using it either.
