Review: I can hear you now - An awesome avr that does everything well. I run a 5.1 klipsch setup that with my old school Yamaha avr before hdmi was triumphant and would beat the block down however all my newest technological devices have removed fiber optic output or using hdmi codecs through the tv would leave me with just stereo in so many situations. I tried a denon x1700 after so many recommendations and it was a nice unit easy to set up and sounded very clear but way too quiet for my needs, I could turn it all the way up and not be satisfied with the content I was watching. so I returned it, the x3700 is just out of my budget for my setup but probably the power I would’ve needed. So I saw this receiver go on sale new and took a chance my dad had a onkyo avr in his bedroom when I was a kid so I’m not new to onkyo I know they’re fine quality for casual use and I’ve been very happy a year in. tons of customization and 8 hdmi ports the app I actually use a lot when I don’t want to go find the controller or I’m out of the room. I’m able to use my devices as they were intended and I’m proud to announce it gets loud enough for me to always be happy and still have plenty of space to turn it up still. From watching antenna tv on sundays for football games to streaming on my fire stick to playing ps3 ps4 switch2 Xbox series x every output has saved sound modes so I can maximize the output each device has. I’m very pleased with this avr and have no plans to upgrade anytime soon it was a bargain that has performed to my needs and is packed full of features I don’t even need. If your on the fence I think it’s the best power and options at this price point
Review: Impressed AV Receiver for an Immersive Home Theater Experience - Impressed AV Receiver for an Immersive Home Theater Experience I purchased the Onkyo TX-NR6100 7.2 Channel THX Certified Network AV Receiver mainly to enhance my home theater experience, especially for watching movies. I am using it in a 5.1.2 speaker configuration and have connected it to my smart TV for streaming movies from apps such as Netflix and Apple TV. The receiver has performed very well in handling the different audio formats provided by these services, including Dolby 5.1 and Dolby Atmos. I also connected it to my 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray player to play movie discs that support DTS:X, and the receiver delivered an excellent immersive audio experience. Like Dolby Atmos, DTS:X uses height audio channels to create a more realistic three-dimensional sound field. The receiver reproduced these effects very well, with sound coming from the appropriate directions and with impressive timing and impact. What impressed me most is how effectively the receiver delivers movie sound effects at the right moments. Action scenes, explosions, and other dynamic effects feel more engaging because the sound is detailed, well-positioned, and synchronized with the scenes on screen. The height effects from Dolby Atmos and DTS:X add a noticeable sense of depth and realism compared with a traditional surround sound setup. I have not owned it long enough to comment on long-term durability, but based on my experience so far, I am very satisfied with its performance and the cinematic experience it provides. I would recommend the Onkyo TX-NR6100 to anyone looking for a capable AV receiver to enjoy movies with Dolby 5.1, Dolby Atmos, and DTS:X audio formats.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Can you send 1 source to two output TVs?**
A: Yes, this is one of the reasons I bought this receiver so i didn't have to have an external HDMI matrix selector like my old receiver. It allows to show the one source to both my main 100" projector and the same picture to the TV in my bar.

**Q: Does this receiver works with the sonos connect like the onkyo tx-nr 696?**
A: From our Onkyo experts at ListenUp: Yes! This does work with Sonos. From Onkyo's site: WORKS WITH SONOS CERTIFIED
This receiver can join your existing Sonos Home Sound System, or be the start of a new one, just by pairing it with a Sonos Port.* This works with Sonos Certified AVR offers a best-in-class tie-in to the Sonos ecosystem, waking, changing inputs, and playing at the volume you want using the Sonos Volume-Pass Through feature from the Sonos app.

**Q: Why do I need to turn the volume to almost 60/70 to get a decent sound, when the same Klipsch reference speakers were much louder in my older receiv**
A: Probably because you didn't calibrate either this AVR or your old AVR or both. Unless you calibrate the AVR to a reference level, the actual heard volume will not correlate to the display.

To calibrate you can either use the auto cal feature with the included microphone or do it yourself with an SPL meter. Once this is done, setting the volume level to 0 (relative mode) or 82 (absolute mode) (see page 117 of the manual) will theoretically get you the same volume that the sound engineers used when they mixed the movie. This is known as "reference volume" and is normally much louder than most people would want. At reference, the speakers will get a maximum if 105db peaks, and the sub will get a maximum 115db peak.

**Q: I have 2 klipsch R28f speakers 150w continuous this ad says the reciever is 210w per channel and 100w ? will this work or damage the speakers ?**
A: From our Onkyo experts at ListenUp: The Onkyo TX-NR6100 will work with your Klipsch R28F Speakers and will not damage them. We recommend setting up your speakers with the Setup microphone that comes with this receiver.

Excellent receiver for the price. Connected flawlessly to my tv, clean steady power to speakers without any dip in power allowing for woofers and tweeters to steadily give perfect sound! Definitely recommend to all! Connect everything to it like my playstation 5, xbox, everything connects into the receiver and just 1 hdmi into the tv. Cleans up a lot of cords.
