It just makes the water softer so people skin doesn't dry out as fast. You need to have all your regular chemicals anyway. **Q: The safety data sheet lists an ingredient as a "moderate eye irritant." so i guess this isn't good for exercising in swim spas without googles?** A: If you’re putting your face in the water for extended periods, you should wear goggles. I’ve never found it to be irritating just relaxing in the hot tub. It’s a nice product that extends the potency of spa water chemicals. **Q: I keep reading that customers are adding chlorine with this. I thought this was to be used in place of Chlorine/Bromine...any help?** A: Silk Balance is not a sanatizer so you still need one like chlorine or bromine, silk Balance inhibits bio-flim so you can keep your chlorine level low around 1.5 ppm instead of 2 to 3 ppm. Also the water will feel very silky-smooth with out drying your skin. **Q: What is in Silk Balance? I read that its a proprietary formula but what are the ingredients?** A: They won’t tell you. I asked repeatedly because my wife has allergies.
