This tripod mount is GREAT! I use it to hold my iPad Pro 12.9 in. for looking at reference images when I'm painting and for shooting video with the iPad or my phone. (Yes, it works for my phone as well.) My particular tripod has a removable base plate that easily screws into the bottom of the of the tripod mount and then clips securely onto the ball head on the tripod (see video). The whole set up is very solid and I can rotate the iPad or phone to any angle needed without worrying that my expensive electronics are going to come off and crash to the ground.
