I highly recommend polishing the tips, as it makes them far more effective. Just DO NOT overdo it! Or you'll destroy the fine tips. I tried using a buffing wheel with polish & ruined my first set. I switched to a soft ultra fine foam lapping pad & made a few quick passes, which worked perfectly on the next set. You could start with like 800 grit then move to 1200-1500 & then 2000+ for the final polish. It's soft metal, so a few passes on each side is plenty. Once polished, they work great. Without the polish, oil likes to rest across the surface rather than bead at the tip.
