It is made from soybeans... and while it is does have an odor it dissipates. Mixing with a carrier oil (like jojoba) is a great way to use this product. By itself it is sticky and thick. All that being said is that by far the best moisturizer I've used - face, neck hands all feel soft and supple. After washing my face whie it is damp moves it around wonderfully. I use 4 to 1 ratio with jojoba oil. Perfect night time oil. Wake up with a fresh glow - no oily or dry skin anymore. **Q: Is the fishy smell normal?** A: Mine smells fishy but it's not strong and dissipates within about 15 minutes. I use it on my hands and an application of regular hand lotion covers up any odor. The oil heals cracks in my skin overnight, so I'm very happy with the product. **Q: How do you use this on your hair?** A: I have no hair. I use it to lubricate my hearing aids in my ear canal.
