The cheap zinc batteries might be fine for your remote control but they are also more prone to leakage and. I find it much easier to tune into stations via wheels rather than buttons and this is why I selected this model. When I inserted batteries and switched it on I was very surprised at how loud the volume switches up to and the clarity of the station I was on. It fits neatly into a coat pocket or can be clipped onto a belt. The headphones are of a good quality and actually stay in put when inserted in the ear. I'm not in a position to say how long batteries will last but i'm sure they will last longer than a radio which searches for stations via a button as these models usually light up when the radio is on using more battery power. The after service email I received from the seller notified me that it also comes with a two year warranty.
