Review: Works as intended - Great product, shipped quickly, well made, does everything I need it to do.
Review: 7 bikes and a Tent Trailer (reinforced with tie downs) - Purchased to use with my VelociRAX 7 bike carrier and my tent trailer. I saw the reviews of some other people having the hitch break on them (after I had already made the purchase). I could not find anything out there that had stronger specs than this, so I decided to give it a try. I had to use a 4” drop on my ball mount so the ball cup would clear the bike rack. I also made a modification so I could insert my bike rack 3” further into the top receiver. My bike rack has an anti wobble bolt and I also purchased an anti wobble bracket to take the slack out of the link between the van receiver hitch and the dual receiver adapter. Lastly I used some tie downs to add some additional support and stability to the system. I assume my bike rack fully loaded weighs close to 325lbs. I am not sure if the Tongue weight limit refers to just the trailer being pulled by the lower receiver, or if it is referring to the total weight of the bike rack and the trailer tongue Weight. Nevertheless, I did not want to take any chances so the tie downs were put in place to add additional support as we went over dips in the freeway and bumps in the dirt roads. Results: 400 miles on freeways, country roads and dirt roads to City of Rocks and nothing broke or even showed signs of fatigue. After I got home I pulled it all apart and it does not look like anything even got bent. There were a few transitions on freeway overpasses that made me tense up as the 12 passenger van, 7 bikes, and a tent trailer bounced through the dips... but it all held and it made our trip a success. I will say that it takes some experimentation to get all your spacing right and on my Nissan NVP 3500, the 4” drop makes the trailer a little lower than it should be. All that being said, I’m happy with the purchase and I hope it gives me lots of years of future adventures.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: If I put a hitch with a 2 inch rise in the lower receiver is there enough clearance to still use the top receiver for a bike rack?**
A: With the rack and trailer I have you can not use a riser. That was my hope, but unfortunately when you factor in the height of the ball plus the extra 3 or 4 inches needed for the trailer’s hitch to clear the top of the ball, you really need to use a 4” drop ball mount. My situation may have been unique due to the rack I was using.

**Q: As long as I'm within the tongue and tow limit, can I use a weight distribution hitch in the lower receiver?**
A: Yes using the lower hitch would be the same as not having the upper section as long as you don't have something else in the top receiver.
The top receivers weigh limit is much lower.

**Q: What is the distance from receiver hole to hole? And how on earth is this not included in the description!?**
A: Do not buy! I bought one and it bent at the receiver! I had 300 lbs on it with bike rack, 2 bikes and a blue Ox hitch pulling a CRV.

**Q: Can you hitch/unhitch a trailer without having to remove a bike rack? Not enough room between the receivers on my Curt adapter.**
A: I think it would depend how much the bike rack drops down where it goes into the top receiver. It would also depend what they of hitch you use for the trailer (strait, drop or up) as you want to keep the trailer on plane.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ It does what it says it will.
*by L***H on June 24, 2015*

Built sturdy, doesn't appear to be cheaply made. Good clean welds. With this part, I can open the rear hatch on my 05 Suburban and clear the bike rack (with rack in top receiver). One negative I discovered is that with the little bit of play in the vehicle hitch receiver and the little bit of play in each of the receivers on this part, it generates a lot of wiggle room for your items to slop back and forth when turning. This is in no way the fault of the dual hitch. Any brand will do the same thing. I built some tighteners similar to the Roadmaster 061 Quiet Hitch you can buy on Amazon. The ones I built snug everthing up nicely. As in rock solid. No play whatsoever. I can only assume that the quiet hitch would do the same thing (although I have not tried one). In order for the quiet hitch to work for the top hitch, you would need to weld something on the top or bottom to act as a lip for the quiet hitch to grab on to. Other than the moving around of stuff, it's a great item. Cheaper than the big name brands and it does the same thing.
